There are better T-Shirt designs, I imagine, so please don’t look at the others while you are there

Have you seen the movie Klunkerz? If you enjoy cycling, — and it does not matter whether your a mountain biker, city/urban rider, fixie hipster, commuter, road racer, or whatever– or even if you dont ride but just follow The Tour de France, or the cycling track events at the Olympics, I think you will like this movie. The movie is about the birth of mountain biking, and the folks that started it in Northern California in the late 70s and early 80s. It is similar to the Skateboard movie Dogtown and Z-Boys but for the Mountain Bike scene, and there is a movie tie in you can find out about in the extras on the DVD (get it to find out hint hint).
For me, the photography, and film clips of the early rides and races shown in the film are priceless on their own, but on top of this the filmmaker, Billy Savage, got all the principal characters of the movement to share their stories in front of the camera. The combination of vintage footage and recent retelling of the events by these folks is just fantastic, really. Also, the movie was made by a regular cycling nut and Northern California local, who was riding the trails of the area, back in the day, and not a shoe company (or bicycle company, or sun glasses company, etc), and it therefore has a real “from the heart” feel to it.
This movie is not new (Klunkerz was released in 2007), and me writing about it now seems odd I know, but I am putting this note about it here, now, because I learned Mr. Savage is distributing the movie himself these days and I just wanted to give this movie any support I could. Since I own a copy already and do not have a lot of money to get any more, writing a free blog post that might get some Goggle attention seemed like the best thing I could do.
From a recent cycling blog post:
I’m self-distributing now, so the DVD is only available at http://www.klunkerz.com …and out of the back of my truck:)

A recent review of the movie at a cycling blog:
Klunkers Review at bikeworldnews.com
This is a great interview with the filmaker (Billy Savage) with a lot of behind the scenes stuff I wish was in the extras on the Disk, but better late than never:

So go get this DVD at the official Klunkers website www.klunkerz.com!! Before this movie, the only good source of information on this topic I had seen was the book The Birth of Dirt, which was nice but really just wet my appetite for something like this.
This came out kind of nice I thought so posting a link here even if it is just a mobile phone photo. I took this Friday on the way to the office, and it is me in the photo. I was sitting waiting for some traffic to pass, at around sunrise, and noticed the blood red morning sun was making a nice shadow of me on this stone wall. Unfortunately the only camera I had handy was my mobile phone hence the small image and shaky result; it was kind of dark still for that camera. Anyway, later I found that a little crop and some light effects in Lightroom made it kind of nice looking.

This song, well … it is a bit of a song, is just never going to become part of anything or going anyplace, so here it is. I kind of works as an into or outro (is that a word) no?

I have decided to move any technical articles to a new blog, dedicated to tech. Check it out at: http://jaysonlorenzen.wordpress.com
This song is something I did a while ago but did not like. I have rerecorded a few bits here and there and remixed it and now feel not so embarrassed by it that I must hide it away.
An interesting thing about this one is that I never played any of the guitar tracks of it all the way though (maybe the main bass track but that is about it). I just recorded some guitar bits, and then sliced them up and formed them to be this song, as if it were a drawing or painting. The other tracks, like Drums and effects/noises were also just hacked out here and there in Garageband. If it is not good work, I hope it is at least interesting in the way that it was made. Let me know what you think.
